García de Olano Heredad
Notes of vanilla, cedar, oak. Red fruit, cherry, raspberry. Earthy, leather, minerals.
Bodegas García de Olano is a family-run winery with a long history in winemaking that goes back generations. Even today, the family owns a cellar containing ancient caves from the Muslim period where the grandfathers and great-grandfathers of the current three Garcia De Olana brothers used to produce and store wine which they sold.
The vines are all planted in typical Rioja Alavesa chalky-clay soil which is considered ideal for growing grape-vines. This combined with the fact that the vine terraces face south and are protected from cold winds from the north by the Sierra Cantabria mountains together with its exceptional microclimate make Rioja Alavesa an unrivalled area for vine growing. The vines are on average 40 years old.
